First time using a “health” toothpaste. However, I really like this. Much better than I thought it would be. I wanted to get away from the strong mint of the commercial brands. This has a nice orange taste. Doesn’t quite foam up like commercial brands, but it’s not really a big deal. Teeth and mouth feel clean after using it. I also feel much better about it from a health stand point. Someday, I suspect they are going to find out that all those harsh chemicals play havoc with the body, even in small amounts.

This is a great toothpaste for people that can’t handle mint or cinnamon flavors, with its orange flavor not tasting overpowering or anything like some of the disgustingly sweet or chemically toothpastes I’ve tried while searching for something that didn’t burn my mouth. The only problem I can name would be the fact that it is now extremely hard to come by, as Tom’s of Maine seems to have discontinued it. Other than that, if it is still in stock here, grab it!

Tom’s of Maine Toothpaste
Tom’s is a small company, employing fewer than two hundred people. It was founded in 1970 and then purchased by Colgate in 2006. Fortunately, Colgate has left Tom’s alone to manage their business according to their original principles.
Tom’s makes natural products. The toothpaste contains no sugar, sweeteners, or artificial flavoring. By contrast, I looked at a tube of Colgate toothpaste that I have on the shelf. It contains “flavor,” whatever that is, “saccharine,” and “propylene glycol.” The last ingredient is a less-toxic form of anti-freeze. One advantage of Tom’s toothpaste is that we do not have to worry about ingesting poisons when we use it.
I have been using Tom’s for years. The toothpaste comes in many flavors. On Amazon, you can find Peppermint, Spearmint, Fennel, Orange-Mango, Cinnamint, Wintermint, Apricot, Soothing Mint, True Mint, and Gingermint, among others. I prefer the Peppermint flavor, which is refreshing, but not overwhelming. The toothpaste is available in sizes from 1 ounce to 6 ounces.
I do not exactly live in a wilderness area, but my local stores no longer carry Tom’s. Fortunately, it can be found on Amazon and other web sites. The prices do vary from vendor to vendor, so check for the best price.

We keep buying six packs of this. Really nothing quite as good out there. One of the few toothpastes that is considered anti-tartar but doesn’t make my mouth sore.

I have been using Tom’s of Maine for over a year. I am allergic to a basic ingredient in standard toothpastes and cannot use them. I found Tom’s by accident and tried it. The results exceeded my expectations. My mouth feels clean, my teeth are white and clean, and there is no harsh “toothpaste burn” like I get from all of the other brands. The “just brushed” feeling lasts for several hours. I have tried the Mango and the Strawberry. Both flavors are subtle so, I don’t feel like I just chewed kids bubblegum. I highly recommend this product.
