Conventional fixatives work by thickening the saliva to improve suction between the denture and the gum. The dentures ‘hold’ by suction. Being water soluble, these fixatives can dissolve, wash out, and result in the dentures slipping and sliding. Secure Denture Bonding Cream works in a completely different way. Secure acts as a real adhesive and creates a secure, strong, bond between the dentures and the gums. The NON water-soluble properties of Secure are not a… More >>

Secure works about as well as the brands I can buy, over the counter without paying shipping charges. None of them work to “hold all day” as advertised and Secure is no different.

I tried it once then forgot what it was like but remembered I had bought some. My dentures are loose again so I looked for it and tried it again. It smells like noxious plastics or industrial glues. It burned my gums horribly. I could not get it out of my mouth fast enough. This time I threw it in the trash. I will keep looking for a nontoxic denture cream/fixative, if I have to make one myself. Why do companies not know that skin absorbs toxins? If it is toxic, you are putting it right below the brain. Good grief!

When I first got dentures, I tried everything there was out there! Some products not only took around half an hour from start to finish to get everything in your mouth, they also didn’t work worth a squat! The standard fair, like Fixodent, left me with a weird minty taste in my mouth and my plates just weren’t that secure. If I ate, they’d come loose. And finally I found Secure. First of all, when I put the dentures in my mouth with Secure on them, they instantly stayed in place! If you like to take your dentures out several times a day, this isn’t for you, but if you’d rather just feel like a normal, non dentured person, this stuff is the best! And you can still rinse out your mouth with Secure. When I used Secure for the first time is when I actually forgot I was wearing dentures, because they were so secure, there was no self conscious feeling of worrying about when they might slip! Go read up at their website…it’s very educational.
I’ll keep a tube of Fixodent around for when I need to run to the store quickly in the evening and not want to secure my dentures all day, but for the most part, I’ll be using Secure whenever I wear my dentures.
A miracle, finally!

The glue bonds OK when you first apply it to the cleaned denture in the morning. However, I like to rinse my mouth and denture each time I eat without having to add more glue to the denture for that day. When I put the rinsed denture back into my mouth it don’t stick enough. I don’t think adding more glue to make it stick better works since the glue got too hard already. At this point it is best to remove all the glue from the denture, and than start over with new glue. The glue is very hard to remove.
